GENTLE BODY-LED APPROACH

FOCUSING ON HOW THE BODY HOLDS EXPERIENCE, EMOTION, STRESS + SURVIVAL PATTERNS

What Is Somatic Massage?

At its heart, somatic massage is an invitation:
to slow down,
to feel held,
and to allow the body to exhale what it has been carrying quietly for too long.

The word “somatic” comes from the Greek word soma, meaning the living body. Rather than treating the body as something to “fix,” somatic massage invites you to reconnect with sensation, softness, breath, and safety within yourself.

At Solace, Somatic work is truly at the heart of everything I do.

    Reduced anxiety or overwhelm

Unlike traditional massage that may focus mainly on knots or physical relief, somatic massage works with the nervous system as much as the muscles. Slow, intentional touch helps the body shift out of survival states — such as chronic stress, hypervigilance, burnout, or emotional holding — and into a state of regulation, rest, and repair.

During a somatic massage, the experience is often slower and more intuitive. There may be moments of stillness, grounding touch, mindful breath, gentle movement, or deep presence. The practitioner listens to the body rather than forcing it to release.
